Frequently Asked Questions

  • We treat a variety of needs, including:

    • Articulation and phonological disorders

    • Language delays or disorders

    • Social communication challenges

    • Fluency (Stuttering)

    • Augmentative or Alternative Communication (AAC)

  • Signs that your child may need speech therapy include:

    • Limited vocabulary for their age

    • Difficulty forming sentences

    • Limited intelligibility especially with unfamiliar listeners

    • Challenges with understanding language

    • Difficulty following directions or engaging in conversations

  • During the evaluation appointment, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your child’s speech and language skills. This may involve observing your child’s communication skills more informally through play, discussing your concerns, completing formal assessments, and developing a tailored therapy plan. The session usually lasts about 60-90 minutes.

An evaluation is required if the child does not have an existing speech/language evaluation from within the past 12 months. You may provide a valid existing EI evaluation, IEP evaluation, or other private practice evaluation to us in place of our evaluation.

  • The duration of therapy sessions can vary depending on individual needs, goals, and age. Sessions range from 30-45 minutes.

  • Typically, therapy sessions are scheduled once or twice a week, but this can be adjusted based on individual progress and recommendations from your speech therapist.

  • We currently serve our clients both at our clinic located at 3080 Ogden Ave, Suite 104 A in Lisle, IL as well as off-site at select preschool and/or daycare centers.

  • Absolutely! We encourage parents and caregivers to be involved throughout the therapy process. Your participation can enhance the effectiveness of therapy and provide you with tools to support your child's communication at home.

  • Our speech therapy services are provided on a private pay basis, meaning payment is made directly by you at the time of service either by credit card or HSA card. While we do not participate in any insurance plans, we understand that some clients may have out-of-network benefits. To assist, we offer courtesy super bill services, in which our company will create a detailed statement and submit it to your insurance company on your behalf for potential reimbursement. This ensures you can take advantage of any out-of-network benefits your plan may offer while making the process as smooth and easy as possible for you.

  • If you feel more comfortable, you may call to find out your out-of-network benefits and submit the claims; however, at Silly Goose, we strive to make this process as stress-free as possible for you. We are happy to call and find out your benefits as well as submit a claim at the end of each month or after 6 sessions, whichever comes first. Once the claim is processed, if you qualify, you will be directly reimbursed by your insurance company.

  • Checking Your Insurance Coverage

    • To determine if your insurance plan covers out-of-network therapy services:

      • Review your insurance plan:

        • Look for information about out-of-network benefits in your insurance policy or on the insurer’s website.

        • Identify terms such as “out-of-network deductible”, “co-insurance”, or “allowable amount”.

      • Call Your Insurance Provider

        • Use the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.

        • Ask the following questions:

          • Does my plan cover out-of-network speech therapy services?

          • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much has been met so far?

          • What percentage of the allowable amount will be reimbursed for out-of-network services?

          • Are there any limits to the number of sessions per year?

          • When do benefits start and renew?

          • Are there any pre-authorization requirements?

      • Confirm the Process

        • Ask about the steps for submitting claims for reimbursement and any specific forms or documentation required.
